In an attempt at getting surly waiters, rude clerks, and loogie-hawking men to shape up in time for the 2008 Olympics, the Beijing Municipal government has decided to make it illegal to be rude. Starting February 1st, the new anti-rudeness measures will take effect.
Many are applauding the measure as long overdue. Others however worry enforcement will be difficult or impossible.
With less than two years to go until the Olympic Games, it should be a great contest: newly enacted law vs. centuries of tradition. Which will come away the champion?
